(Colorado Springs, CO) -- Veterans around Colorado Springs are weighing in on the recent controversy sparked by a Fort Carson soldier. Private First Class Tariqka Sheffey posted a picture of herself on Instagram, saying she was hiding from saluting the flag. Navy veteran Frank Tapia says she has the right to freedom of speech, but there's a certain amount of respect which needs to be shown while in the military. He also adds that he believes she's crossed the boundaries of professionalism for a soldier. The post says it's investigating the matter.
