(Colorado Springs, CO) -- People in Colorado Springs are being warned to take fire season seriously. Fire Chief Chris Riley says that includes taking an active role in trimming trees and getting rid of dead vegetation. He also says if that's done, it will go a long way in saving a home if a fire breaks out. Fire officials also want to make sure people are informed on what trees they have on their property. Junipers and others can go up very quickly. People can learn more tonight at a neighborhood meeting on wildfire awareness and preparedness. It starts at 6:30 at the Cheyenne Mountain High School Auditorium.
