(Pueblo, CO) -- Pueblo County Commissioners are moving to fire county transportation director Greg Severance. He was the target of an investigation after e-mails recently surfaced which showed him advising three Pueblo City Council members on key issues. Commissioners voted unanimously to let him go yesterday, citing a lack of professionalism in the e-mails. Severance referred to people in the community using discriminatory comments. The city council recently moved to cut funding for his position as well. Despite being a county employee, the bulk of Severance's salary was paid for by state and federal funding with oversight from the city. City council member Chris Kaufman recently resigned over the e-mail controversy, and there are efforts underway to recall Council President Sandy Daff and Councilwoman Ami Nawrocki.
