(El Paso County, CO) -- Recall efforts are underway in an attempt to oust El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa from office. As of yesterday morning, nearly two-thousand of the more than 44-thousand needed signatures had been gathered. Maketa has been embroiled in controversy due to allegations of sexual impropriety with women in his office, creating a hostile work environment and accusations. The petitions were just approved late last week after being kicked back due to a legal issue. If organizers get enough signatures by July 13th, it would trigger a recall election in November.
