(Pueblo, CO) -- Pueblo voters will go to the polls in November to decide on a half-cent sales tax to benefit the police and fire departments. Petitions to bring it to a vote were verified yesterday. The sales tax increase would remain in effect for five years, and bring in a total of 35-million-dollars. The money will go to buy new equipment or hire additional staffing. A committee of three firefighters, three police officers and three people appointed by the City Council will oversee how the money is spent.
