Obama: U.S. Supports International Efforts To End Mideast Violence
(Washington, DC) -- President Obama says the U.S. firmly supports international efforts to end the violence between Hamas and Israel.
Obama condemned the ongoing violence, but noted that the U.S. firmly supports Israel's right to defend itself. He called on Hamas to agree to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.

President Obama is announcing more U.S. sanctions against Russia over Ukraine.
Speaking at the White House, the President accused Russia of failing to take steps to reduce tensions in eastern Ukraine. The Treasury Department says the new sanctions will affect firms across key sectors of the Russian economy. The U.S. claims Russia has repeatedly violated Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, starting with the annexation of Crimea .
