(Manitou Springs, CO) -- One of the top spots for hiking in the area is expected to shut down on August 18th. After that, four months worth of repair work and improvements will be done on the Manitou Incline. The shutdown is tentatively set for the day after the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon. The trails will be off-limits during the temporary shutdown to fix damage from last year's floods, as well as wear and tear. Trespassers will be slapped with a 100-dollar ticket, as well as a mandatory court appearance. The nearly one-point-six-million-dollar project is being paid for by money through FEMA, the Great Outdoors Colorado Grant and other sources.
