(El Paso County, CO) -- El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa says the independent investigation into the response to last year's Black Forest Fire is based on "opinion" and not fact. Some of the probe's findings were revealed yesterday and found no wrongdoing on the part of Black Forest Fire Chief Bob Harvey. Maketa says there is evidence "such as radio transmissions and recorded phone calls" which show a lack of proper response by Harvey. The fire district says Maketa's "allegations have absolutely done needless harm" to its reputation. The sheriff claims resources were delayed in arriving on the scene because Harvey didn't transfer command fast enough.
