Fans Pay Tribute To Michael Jackson On The Anniversary Of His Death
(Glendale, CA) -- Fans are paying tribute to Michael Jackson on this somber anniversary. It was five years ago today that word spread around the globe that the pop superstar had died. Flowers are piling up outside the mausoleum where Jackson is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Tributes are also taking place at the singer's childhood home in Gary, Indiana and outside his former Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. A candlelight vigil is scheduled at Jackson's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 10:00 pm local time tonight. His family is also said to be holding a private gathering to remember Michael.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009 from an overdose of powerful drugs used to induce sleep in hospital settings. His doctor at the time, Conrad Murray, was arrested and convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Murray served two years of a four year jail sentence before his release late last October. Michael Jackson was 50 years old.
