Cold Weather Kills Thousands Every Year
(Undated) -- Cold is more hazardous for Americans than any other type of weather. At least two thousand Americans are killed by bad weather every year. The National Center for Health Statistics reports today that about two-thirds of those deaths can be blamed on cold weather. The study also found that heat-related deaths are higher in both large cities and very rural areas. Only about six percent of all weather-related deaths are the result of storms, floods or lightning.
