(Chaffee County, CO) -- Browns Canyon is one step closer to becoming a national monument. It would cover 22-thousand acres along the Arkansas River in Chaffee County. A measure supporting the move passed through a Senate subcommittee yesterday. U.S. Senator Mark Udall is backing the legislation. It now moves to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee before heading to the full Senate. The measure would preserve all current activities in the area, including mountain biking and motorized use.
