(Colorado Springs, CO) -- Republican nominee for governor Bob Beauprez is pushing voters in El Paso County to "turn the state red." He stopped in Colorado Springs yesterday as a part of a statewide unity tour for the GOP. He was joined by Republican candidates who ran against him in the party's primary. Beauprez says he believes the Colorado Springs area pushed him over the top in his bid for the nomination. He beat former Congressman Tom Tancredo by nearly 13-thousand votes statewide, and won by nearly ten-thousand votes in El Paso County. Beauprez says the area will be key to whether or not the state becomes a Republican state again. He's up against Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper in November.
