New Mexico City Adopts Equal Pay Law

(Albuquerque, NM) -- Albuquerque, New Mexico is the first city in the country to have a law that encourages equal pay for men and women. Mayor Richard Berry signed the bill Friday that will give an advantage to businesses bidding for city contracts if they give equal pay. American women on average make 23 percent less than men who do the same jobs. Despite decades of efforts, there are still no federal or state laws regarding equal pay.
